Mary’s House for Older Adults

Mary’s House is a vibrant, apartment-style residence designed to support and celebrate LGBTQ+ seniors. Set within a three-story building with a basement, the architecture fosters comfort, connection, and well-being through inclusive, purpose-driven spaces.

EMA provided full interior design services for all common areas, emphasizing warmth, functionality, and community. The ground floor features a welcoming reception area with a tribute wall honoring the visionaries behind Mary’s House, along with a great room and fireplace, TV lounge, screened porch, outdoor deck, spacious kitchen and dining areas, and administrative offices.

The upper floors each include seven residential units, shared storage, lounges, an arts and crafts room, and laundry facilities—balancing privacy with communal engagement. The basement supports wellness with a fitness room, quiet room/library, media room, and conference space.

A rooftop terrace with pergola shading and a vegetated green roof offers residents a tranquil urban retreat. Mary’s House is more than a residence—it’s a home designed for dignity, joy, and belonging.
